A nice gourmand. Surprised I like it because of the licorice and violet, but I do! Anise, vanilla, almond, tonka, praline, tobacco, vetiver, white musk; all wrapped up in a beautiful bottle. I gave it a try and its the apple of my eye.
When first spayed I do get a strong blast of alcohol that last maybe 3 seconds. Then it becomes lightly confectionary and by that I mean sweet and powdery (courtesy of violet and orris root) but its tailored and definitely not over the top. The star of the fragrance is definitely the licorice vibe(licorice root, star anise,. And I really hate licorice but it is not overpowering to me in this fragrance and darn it, its enjoyable here. The vanilla and tonka are faint, and not overdone. This is so well balanced to me. Then a freshness creeps in from ivy and the I get a fruitiness from the Amaryllis and Cherry. LL does become louder during the dry down as the musk moves into play.
This is not something I wear everyday. It’s an occassional use for me. When I do wear it I always wonder why I don’t wear it more often. I can only think it’s my licorice phobia. It is floral-fruity-gourmand. Longevity and sillage are moderate. I use about three sprays and it gets me about 6 hours. To me this works for day and evening and I prefer to wear in cooler weather. I think hotter weather might make this a little suffocating to me.
